What is net?
The term "net" is faced by allpeople-consumers of goods. Net weight is indicated on the packaging of products (tea packets, coffee cans, etc.), which we buy daily in the store. What is net?
The term "net" comes from the Italian wordnetto, which means "clean" in Russian. As applied to weight, the word "net" means the weight of the product itself, without regard to the weight of its packaging and packaging.
Why would a buyer need to know the net weight? Suppose a person is faced with a choice: do they buy tea in an expensive gift box with a total weight of 500 g (this weight is called gross), or the same tea in a simple carton, the gross weight of which (together with the box) is also half a kilogram. The price of both purchases is the same, but in the first gift option the net weight of tea is 350 g (and 150 g is the weight of the package). In the second case, for the same money, a person can buy tea with a net weight of 450 g (the packaging will weigh 50 g). Knowing the real weight of the product, which can be used for food, the buyer will easily make a choice of what tea to buy.
So, net is the net weight of the product. In what is it usually measured? Read the article What is the mass measured.
