Stavropol: maternity hospital was built 18 years
In the village of Krasnogvardeiskoe, Stavropol Territory, the construction of a maternity hospital, which was initiated 18 years ago by Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev, has finally been completed, a spokesman for the head of the region said.
“The president’s initiative was extremely timely, since the building in which the obstetric department was located was built before the revolution,” the press release said.
However, due to lack of funding, the construction of the maternity hospital was delayed for 18 years. For many years, the object fell into the list of priority affairs of the governor of the region and in various federal programs. And only in 1996, the first part of the complex was put into operation - a food processing unit and a transformer substation.
To complete the construction of the second part of the complex, about 250 million rubles were allocated from the federal budget.
And on Tuesday, the grand opening of a new maternity hospital took place in the village of Krasnogvardeisky. The new building includes a maternity hospital with 60 beds and a gynecology department.
