441B215-400With women’s rights under continuous attack, it has never been more important for teen girls to learn the history of the brave women who fought for equality and justice before them.

Magination Press, the children’s and teen’s book imprint of the American Psychological Association, is making just such a resource available with a new primer on feminism for teens and tweens:Feminism from A to Z.

Written by Gayle E. Pitman, PhD, the author of the Stonewall Award-winning book,This Day in June, as well as this year’sWhen You Look Out the Window: How Phyllis Martin and Del Lyon Built a Community, Feminism From A to Zis a one-of-a-kind alphabetical primer on feminism. Each chapter examines a different topic and offers writing and call-to-action exercises incorporated into each lesson. Together, the chapters take a look at history and current events through the lens of feminist theory, and introduce an inclusive and wide range of feminist thoughts and perspectives. The book also includes an introduction to readers on how to use the book, an alphabetical list of ways to take feminist action, and illustrations by Laura Huliska Beith.

Said Pitman: “I wroteFeminism from A to Zto provide all girls, and all teens and tweens who identify as feminists, the chance to discover for themselves what feminism means to them, and how they can best put it into practice. In these fraught times, our future feminist leaders need books that prove that feminism is for everyone, of every gender identity, race, class, and education level.”

Feminism from A to Zwill be released on October 23, with a list price of .95. The book is available for preorder or via .
