Kipling Museum will appear in India.
Rudyard Kipling Museum decided to create in Mumbai, the former Bombay, in the city where the famous writer and poet was born and spent the first years of his childhood.
The exposition telling about the life and work of Kipling, who was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1907, will be deployed in a mansion built at the beginning of the last century on the site of the cottage, where in 1865 the future famous writer was born.
The building of the future museum is located on the site of an art school in southern Mumbai. Rudyard's father, John Lockwood Kipling, was at one time the first director of this very prestigious educational institution today. And the future creator of Mowgli lived in this nature reserve, immersed in greenery, a corner of the largest Indian business and cultural center until the age of 6.
For many decades, the mansion was in fact used as an archive and warehouse and was abandoned. Now, for its restoration and reconstruction, the government of the state of Maharashtra allocates 40 million rupees - about 1 million dollars. It is assumed that the main part of the building will occupy the exhibition halls of the art gallery, the exhibits of which will be paintings and sculptures accumulated over many years in the storerooms of the school. A museum exhibition will be located in one or two separate rooms. It is assumed that the creation of Kipling from all over the world will be involved in its creation.
