In the competition for the improvement of the northern zone of the Sheremetyevo airport, the TPS Group company, which is owned by Arkady Rotenberg, became the best, - says Mikhail Vasilenko, the airport general director.
For the reconstruction of four departments, in particular an underground tunnel, 2 terminals of the northern zone, a refueling complex and a cargo terminal, the company will contribute $ 635 million. According to Vasilenko, LUKOIL will become a partner in reconstruction. The exact amount of investments in each of the projects is not specified, although the general director recalled that the estimated cost of reconstruction of the underground tunnel, according to the Ministry of Transport, is two hundred or two hundred and fifty million dollars. This will also include road works that are planned.
According to the plans of TPS, the reconstruction of this tunnel will be completed only by 2020. Each of the terminals will cost about one hundred and fifty million dollars, and LUKOIL will assist the TPS Group in the reconstruction of the fueling complex.
There are plans to build a new air terminal on the site of the old Terminal B, with the help of this it is planned to increase the capacity of the air terminal by fifteen million passengers a year. Also, the repair of the refueling complex will significantly increase the performance of “refueling in the wing” of the Sheremetyevo aircraft canister to about five and a half tons per year. The final decision will be made directly by Rosischestvo, and the airport will only provide the final results of the competition for them.
The Renova Company also participated in the competition, which was going to invest $ 1.8 billion in this project, however, borrowed funds, which negatively affects the airport.
According to sources, the Renova group proposes to take the entire aeroflot for a concession for about 30 years, and move the entire aeroflot to the northern terminal zone (at the moment all transportation capacities are in the South).It was also proposed to abandon the construction of the tunnel, since in their opinion this is an unprofitable project, and instead stretch the Aeroexpress line to the north of the airport.
