Burmese breed of a cat: character and photo
Lovers are purring, intending to have a homepet, most often pick it up very meticulously. It takes into account the appearance, nature, complexity of care, the degree of co-habitation with people and animals - everything that can impose an imprint on the pleasure when communicating with the pet. In this respect, the Burmese breed of cat can be considered ideal. It is difficult to imagine an animal that is more suitable for communication. The only drawback can be considered unless the small spread of Burmese in Russia and the resulting high cost of kittens. But people usually go willingly to such sacrifices.
Burmese breed of cat can be considered almostnot the oldest on the planet. Its history is closely connected with Burma; in Thailand they are known since the 15th century - and this is only officially documented facts.
In Europe, the representatives of the breed were only inearly XX century, and quite a romantic way. Two Europeans took an active part in the protection of the monastery of Lao-Tsung. In many respects it was thanks to them that the temple managed to be defended, and the rector gave the heroes two cats. In his part, it was akin to a feat, because the Burmese breed of cat was considered in the monastery as the reincarnation of righteous monks. Unfortunately, only one animal survived the road to France. The kittens of this cat became the progenitors of the whole breed.
Modern type of rock
In Europe and America, it was pretty funnyBurmese breed of a cat: its origin began with a kitten named Wong-Mau, presented to a doctor from San Francisco, Joseph Thompson. It is believed that the cub was a descendant of the cat itself, which was awarded to the heroic Europeans. Interestingly, Wong Mau was not burmese in the full sense of the word. But the corresponding genes turned out to be dominant, due to which we managed to fix the characteristic color, which the kitten and subdued the doctor. A detailed breeding program was developed, which was introduced by scientists from the University of California under the leadership of Dr. Keller. They also received active assistance from the city's felinological society. As a result, only four years later, in 1934, the CFA approved the primary standard of the breed and issued registration to the first members of the tribe whose pedigree the Burmese breed consisted of three generations. Two more years - and she was recognized as fully established. In connection with the rabid increase in the popularity of the breed, it was decided to increase its genetic diversity, for which the Burmese were interbred with Siamese, Burmese and Thai imported cats and even with cats, only external reminiscent of Wong-Mau. This practice ceased only in 1947, and since then only individuals with three generations of purebred ancestors were recognized as Burmese.
American and European Burmese
The popularity of the breed was growing rapidlypace. In 1949, several of its representatives were brought to Britain, and seven years later the Burmese Cat Club, the Burmese Breed Club, was formed. In 1979 he was joined by a similar Society (The Burmese Cat Society).
In an effort to increase the breed's population, breedersthey conducted their own breeding, practicing crosses with Siamese cats. However, the European Siamese were very different from the American ones: their proportions and contours were more subtle, the skeleton more elegant, and the head more elongated. Naturally, these qualities were transmitted to Burmese. The result was significant external differences from the American standard. And the European Burmese breed of cats in 1950 was separated into an independent branch, with detailed refinements of the exterior. It came to the point that the CFA directly prohibits the crossing of "Americans" with "Europeans". Violation of this rule entails "disqualification" of offspring.
Despite the differences in the constitution, the common featurescarries both American and English Burmese cats. The breed description indicates that the animal should be of medium size, with a weight between 3.6 and 6.5 kg. Bone is thin, but to become sturdy (no Siamese airiness). Eyes - bright, widely spread, yellow color, which can vary from light-lemon to saturated-amber, and deeper is preferable. Green shade is a sign of culling. The ears are medium, widely spaced, rounded at the tips, slightly inclined forward. Paws are rather thin and long, with elegant oval "soles". The tail is medium-long, its base is not wide, it narrows to the tip, and it ends with rounding. Wool - the main thing, what became famous Burmese breed of a cat, - very short, with thin hairs and the expressed shine. Adheres tightly, the undercoat is almost absent.
The difference between "Englishmen" and "Americans"manifests itself mainly in the structure of the head. At the first it resembles a blunt wedge, with smooth, harmoniously rounded contours. The second head is round and full face, and in profile. However, whatever Burmese breed of a cat is described, the standard emphasizes that its representative should not have any heaviness. Grace, elegance - and at the same time the weight is greater than the person who took the cat in his arms expects to feel.
The allowed colors for Burmese are several. But the main principle remains unchanged: the top of the body and the limbs should be painted darker than the lower half. Not considered to be low-contrast points: in comparison with the basic tone, the paws, ears, tail and mask on the muzzle may be darker. But preference is still given to even colors. Any moirés and stripes are discarded, although kittens can wear light tiger moire - it disappears with age.
According to the CFA standards, the Burmese breed of a cat can have four colors:
- Sable, sometimes called black. It is also considered basic. Color - dark chestnut, with golden tint, on top of two shades darker. The nasal lobe and paw pads are saturated with brown.
- Blue. The wool is bluish-silvery, the nose of the nose with pads on the paws is gray with a blue tint.
- Purple, it's platinum, color is characterized by a pinkish tint of the main silvery-gray tone. Pillows and a nasal pink with a bias in lavender.
- With chocolate color (the second name is "champagne"), the body has a beige-honey color, similar to that of milk chocolate. Lobe and pads give a ton of cinnamon.
These colors (sometimes under other names) are recognized by other felinological organizations of Europe and America.
TICA allows more colorsBurmese cats. This is explained by the fact that in the breeding works of this organization Siamese with cream and red colors were used. Moreover, among the founding producers there were cats of rare colors like cinnamon and faun. In addition, by the standards of TICA, Burmese are allowed and tortoiseshell "clearance". As a result, the list of allowed colors reaches almost two dozen.
Cats, Burmese breed: character
It was thanks to him that Burmese became so popular. No other breed has such positive reviews. It can be said that when a Burmese cat is mentioned, a description of the breed and character is usually accompanied only by enthusiastic epithets. It is curious that even with occasional crosses of Burmese with other breeds, features of character remain fixed in the offspring, even if it does not inherit external features.
First of all - sociability.Burmese cat categorically needs a company - primarily human, but the society of other animals is quite welcome. The pet will walk on the heels of the family members, at the first opportunity will climb in his arms. Burma sleeps with family members, and likes to "butt", asking for affection.
Next - playfulness. The Burmese breed of cat loves the fun and does not get tired of taking part in the games. At the same time, the cat will carry the desired toy for the owner, hinting at the continuation of the holiday. If you work with a pet, he can easily master the dog team "aport".
The third most important quality is patience combined with kindness. Even if a small child makes a cat hurt, it will never be scratched.
Advantages of a beautiful pet
All the joys of life that the Burmese cats breed you (a photo of its representatives is in the review) can be reduced to a very valuable list.
- Nezloblivost, and most importantly - immodesty: even an offended animal will forgive, forget and will not take revenge.
- Complete lack of aggression: the cat retires from interfering, but will not drive.
- Conflict to all present.
- Love for children. Let her get tired of the game, but hide from a little partner for entertainment cat will not.
- Burmese are more intelligent than most breeds.
A purely aesthetic component can not be mentioned: the cat will become a real decoration of the house.
Acquiring an animal of this breed, that Burmese are very curious and fearless. The cat runs away safely from the apartment without fear - and on the street there can be all kinds of dangers, so this moment requires control. In addition, you can inadvertently lock the pet in the washing machine or cabinet box, which the animal has climbed to inspect. And of course, do not leave it alone for a long time - it is carried by the pupils hard. Despite such difficulties that the Burmese breed of cats can deliver, the reviews about it are exceptionally warm. The joy of communication, liveliness and goodwill of the cat with a vengeance redeem possible inconveniences, delivered by it.
We care for the pet
It is noteworthy that for such an elegant and in allsense of positive cat care is extremely simple. Regularly to bathe it it is not necessary - only in case of strong contamination of an animal. In wool coats, the wool does not get lost, although to maintain its aesthetic appearance the burm needs to be combed regularly - and only once a week. The only thing that should be paid attention is the balanced nutrition. It depends on the magnificent appearance of the skin and the activity of a four-legged friend.
Descendants of the Burmese
Despite the fact that the Burmese breed of catshe is already a founder of several other breeds. With the participation of the Burmese, the Australian Tiffany, Thai Bobtail, Australian Smoke, Bombay and several others were created. In all these branches Burma introduced the originality of color and remarkable character, albeit somewhat inferior to the "original".
